Rollenwiththetide
We can tell you all day that What It Was Walking Tour is not your typical Tampa walking tour, but sometimes it’s better to let our guests show you.
In March 2026, Rollenwiththetide joined us in Downtown Tampa to experience What It Was Walking Tour and brought their cameras along for the journey. The result is “Tampa’s Untold Black History | What It Was Walking Tour Experience,” a video that gives viewers an inside look at what it’s like to walk with us and uncover some of Tampa’s Black history hiding in plain sight.
As Rollenwiththetide describes it, the experience is more than a walk. It is a journey through the stories, struggles, resilience, and legacy of Black Tampa. Their video captures something we hope every guest experiences on our tours: that moment when a place you have walked or driven past countless times suddenly means something different.
One of our favorite things about the Rollenwiththetide feature is their focus on the stories and landmarks that are often overlooked.
If you have been wondering what happens on a What It Was Walking Tour, Rollenwiththetide gives you a glimpse of the experience before you join us yourself.
Watch “Tampa’s Untold Black History | What It Was Walking Tour Experience” on YouTube, then come experience Tampa’s Black history for yourself!
